Field Day is a festival that takes place in Hackney’s Victoria Park every summer. I’d not been before but had always admired the line-up from afar, it’s full of interesting bands, but once the headliner for the Barn stage had been announced I knew I had to go because Aphex Twin was playing. He’s a bit of a hero and I never thought I’d ever see him live.
It’s such a good festival. There’s a village green in the centre of the site that hosts games like sack races and tug of war. A ton of music (obvs) with a huge range of stages and music, a lot of genres are featured (they even had a brass band in one of the little tents). The food was arranged by Street Feast so you know you are getting quality street food and the crowd was friendly and laid back.
Bands I saw that you might like: Methyl Ethyl and Flamingods were jolly good fun. Joe Goddard really got us dancing and Aphex Twin was EPIC.
All in all a rather brilliant event and a fantastic way to start the summer. I can feel the start of a yearly thing coming on…
Below are a few photos and a little film I made from the day. I could have taken way more footage and pictures but I was enjoying myself way too much for that. I am a terrible blogger, I know.
