It’s Friday! Hooray! It’s been my birthday week! Double hooray! I may or may not be hungover after a dinner with friends last night! Hoo…ugh.
I’m late to the party with this one, but I have started to read The Essex Serpent. I am not very far into this at all, but gosh it is so beautifully written.
A bit of a cheat as I watched this last week, but I went and saw Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 in the cinema on my own. This was huge for me as I’ve not been to the cinema for a very, very long time and it felt SO GOOD to be in a theatre, eating overpriced nachos and a huge, slightly flat Diet Coke. Dave and I used to go every week before we had kids. I miss that. Anyway, I loved the film. It’s as silly and funny as the last one and it also has the best end credits I’ve seen in a long, long time.
Edith Bowman does a really brilliant podcast called Soundtracking. All about film makers and music in film, it’s a fascinating listen. This week’s episode was with Guardians of the Galaxy’s James Gunn and he talks about the music used in the Guardian’s film and his relationship with film composer Tyler Bates and how music is used during the production of the films too.
Music I’ve been listening to:
I started printing off photos and words and putting together my Week In The Life album. It’s looking good! I’ll post photos of the album itself when it’s a bit more complete. Meanwhile I am continuing my obsession with making syrups to drink with gin by making one featuring lilac from the garden. To be honest, it doesn’t taste of much apart from sugar syrup, but the smell is incredible. The perfect thing to add to drinks during a warm, summer’s evening.
As a birthday present to myself, I bought this cat skirt from Lindy Bop in the sale. I cannot tell you how much I love it. Have already worn it far too many times already.
You can just see the pattern in the photo above, It’s a classic 50s fit and really good quality too. Plus it was a mega bargain!
We have a busy weekend lined up. A trip to the Polka theatre in Wimbledon to see Sarah and Duck and a birthday party on Sunday. Plus Eurovision watching and friends coming over. Phew!
Linking up with Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat.
