Well it has been a while since I’ve done one of these! But the first week of the Easter hols have been fun so here’s a little round-up.

I finished The Girl With Seven Names this week. It’s the true story of Hyeonseo Lee who escaped North Korea just before her 18th birthday. The insights she gives of life in NK is fascinating and scary. It’s like reading a real life Big Brother and you find yourself with heart in mouth at some points and amazed at the kindness of other humans the next. It is well worth a read and I’ve now noticed there are quite a few books about people’s stories of leaving North Korea so I may well be falling down a literary rabbit hole very soon.

With the exception of the new Sarah and Duck episodes on Cbeebies (which have been wonderful), I’ve not really watched anything on screens. I have heard that The Night Manager is on Amazon Prime at the moment and as I missed that the first time around I am looking forward to settling down and watching that very soon.

I’ve listened to the first episode of S-Town, have you guys heard it? I’m really intrigued, I know all the episodes are available now but what with this week and no commute, listening to podcasts is hard, but I hope I can catch up soon. I’m not even going to link to the website so I don’t accidentally see any spoilers, you’ll just have to Google it yourself 🙂

Music wise, my tastes are eclectic as ever, with a healthy dose of synths:

Have you heard about #The100DayProject? It’s an Instagram-based challange that gets people to create something everyday for 100 days. I’ve signed up for it. I don’t know how long this project will last for me, or how it will develop, but the last three days have been really good for me to sit and paint quietly. You should definately follow me on Instagram to watch my progress.

Sunglasses! The weather has been pretty brilliant this week, hasn’t it?

…and lastly

We have a playdate today and then tomorrow we’re off to Sussex to go to my nephew’s 1st birthday party. I’m well excited! And we get to go on a train! And Dave’s coming too so it won’t just be me dealing with over-tired, caked-up kids! Hooray!

  1. Hi Charlotte, I think I have The Girl With Seven Names on my want to read list, so I am pleased to hear it is a good book. Pretty emotional too I expect! I remember the days when all I felt I watched was children’s videos, it is nice to get down to some serious adult watching too, I hope you manage it soon. And as for a project a day for 100 days! That is a challenge, that I am sure you will manage…. Enjoy your ride on the train!

Thank you for linking with the #MMBC.

  2. Love your picture, what a great idea to get creative too. I’m sure I’ve seen that book mentioned in #littleloves before, it sounds like a really interesting read. Hope your nephew had a lovely party!
