Tomorrow evening, my brilliant little sisters, Becky and Julia, fly off to Kathmandu to begin a trek to Everest. That’s right, my sisters are climbing Everest. Well, base camp, but still! It’s an amazing thing and it’s all in the name of SCIENCE too. They are one set of several identical twins taking part in Xtreme Everest 2, an expedition that will study hypoxia and ultimately guide the best treatment to be given in intensive care so it’s an incredibly important trip. There’s more information here if you’d like to read more, the Xtreme Everest Twitter is being kept up to date regularly throughout the expedition (with pictures!) and Beckie, another twin on the trip has a blog here. Also, if you would like to donate to the funding of the trip (these things cost a lot), Bec and Ju’s Just Giving page is here. It’s a very worthwhile cause.

Good luck, sisters! I hope you have the most amazing time, don’t get frostbite and I look forward to hearing your stories of yaks and other things soon. xxx

I am *so* looking forward to your pictures, Boc. Looking forward to seeing you both tonight (albeit briefly!)

Flighty, I would so love to see a snow leopard in the wild, that would be truly amazing.
