It’s weird that after such a long and big build up, Christmas is pretty much done now, although given the chance I’d be quite happy to keep the lights up all through the wintertime. This has been the first Christmas that Betsy has been really aware of what’s happening and she’s enjoyed every single moment, meeting Father Christmas excepted – she was bloody terrified of him! Although she did like the presents he gave her. But she’s loved pointing out Christmas lights (or bismas as she pronounces it) from the car and in shops and spotting snowmen, reindeer and presents (but it took a while for her to learn that all the presents aren’t for her) and has really enjoyed the advent calendar too, but again hasn’t quite understood that she only gets one chocolate a day and not all 24 in one go! We have had great fun with our Playmobil advent calendar though, we both enjoyed the one door a day and the tiny animals that appeared in the box (the Father Christmas figure from day 8 kept getting put in the cheese dome though).
We had a trip to London Zoo to meet Father Christmas (booked before I realised quite how scared Betsy was of him), and even though she didn’t enjoy meeting FC, she loved seeing the giraffes and lions and giggled wildly at the tamandua anteater trying to climb into her pram. The extra Christmas activities the zoo put on were fantastic too, we’ll be back next year for sure (we’ll give the big man a miss though).
We spent Christmas day and eve at my parent’s house, venturing out to look at the sea only when that horrible storm finally passed. Lots of merriment indoors though and all of us being thoroughly spoiled and eating far too much. Brilliant.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!
