I’m very lucky with where my parents live. They live in a village next to the sea, next door to the New Forest and a short drive to Bournemouth. They really do have everything there and it makes for a filled stay when ever we visit.
We started the weekend by visiting Christchurch to look at the river, its swans and boats and have a play in the most brilliant splash pad.
We explored some of the New Forest too. Both days we parked up at Wilverley Plain. It’s probably the most busy parts of the forest, but everyone seems to stay close to the car park and if you walk two minutes, you’ll have the forest to yourself. It’s popular for good reason – there’s a large, flat open area that’s perfect for running free, a woodland walk, a good chance of seeing some ponies and it’s one of very few places where you can have a BBQ.
No trip to Milford is without a trip to its beach.
We finished the weekend by diverting on the way back home and meeting up with my sister Becky and nephew Asher. We spent some time in Royal Victoria Country Park in Hamble. It’s a gorgeous place to visit, there’s an amazing playground, miniature railway, lots of ground and a fantastic view across Southampton Water.
