Here’s a super quick and most awesome present to make. I took the recipe from Nigella Lawson’s Christmas book and it couldn’t be simpler to make. In the original recipe, a 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds is required, but I didn’t have any in the cupboard so they got missed out. Here’s what I used for one 1ltr bottle of vodka:
- 2tsp Coriander seeds
- 1½ dried chilis
- 6 cardamon pods, bruised
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp gold dust (the stuff used in cake decorating. This!)
- 1ltr vodka
Pop all your dry ingredients into a sterilized bottle, add your vodka with the use of a funnel, seal the bottle, give a bit of a shake and leave the spices to infuse their lovely flavour into the alcohol. It’s best to leave for a month before opening and lasts a year.
I love how the gold dust shimmers in the liquid. It gives it an extra Christmassy kick.
I tried a bit of this about a week after I made this and the chilli blew my socks off. I think added to some tomato juice, this will make the best bloody Mary ever.
