Capel Manor is the only horticultural college within the M25 with gardens open to the public and luckily for us, it’s just up the road from where we live in Enfield. Even more luckily, we were given membership to visit the gardens by my in-laws. Thanks Pete and Val! The gardens are a great place to visit and full of inspiration for your own garden. There are formal gardens, a ‘street’ of front gardens, gardens suitable for families, trial gardens for Which, more wooded, wild parts and so much more. There are also a few animals including meerkats too. We haven’t used the membership much, a flying visit in February and that was it until the Easter weekend.
Capel Manor put on seasonal events over the year and their easter egg hunt is one of the most popular. When we went it was supposed to be the only day with nice weather so it seemed like everyone who lived in the surrounding area came along. We avoided much of the Easter trail finding it too crowded, but we did play along with a few games and the kiddos got a bit of chocolate too.
It was a glorious sunny day and SO nice to be out and not wearing coats and getting a decent amount of vitamin D in us. Nice for the kiddos having a good run and explore with friends too.
But the plants were the star of the show, everything budding and blooming. Can’t wait to come back with my macro lens and take some more pictures.
LOVE the combo of the dogwood and daffs so much.
