We very much hibernated this weekend. We should have been going out to birthday parties, but instead we all had colds and felt terrible. While it was Dave’s turn to nap, I helped the kids make their own quiches. Betsy made the shortcrust pastry and decided what the main ingredients were going to be, Arthur mixed up the egg and milk mixture. Both rolled their pastry out and filled their little dishes. They even hung around the oven until their lunch was done. I think it’s fair to say that the kiddos preferred making their quiches rather than eating them though. They were so proud of what they did, but feeling under the weather does put you off your food a bit. (I tried them, the pastry needs a bit of work, but they were pretty tasty)

I love the photo of them holding hands at the very end! They look like they did a fantastic job making the pastry, well done for not stepping in to ‘help’ I need to remember to step back a bit more when we bake. I hope you are all feeling a bit better now xx

Hi Charlotte, I love the idea of getting the children to make their own little quiches (even if they didn’t eat them). Whose pastry doesn’t need work?… It does look nice and short…

I love those little enamel dishes – and so lovely that they got to make their own lunch. Beautiful lighting in your photos too! x

Lovely set of photos, looks like they had a really nice time making their lunch, even if they didn’t eat much in the end. My two never have much of an appetite when they’re full of cold. x #LivingArrows
