A slow day today. No work for me as my mother-in-law had a hospital appointment so I had to look after the kiddos. Betsy is at the end of chicken pox so I kept her away from nursery today.
As I went to bed very early last night, I missed both my brother-in-laws delivering birthday presents, so I get a nice surprise brought up to me.
Cereal while I edit photos and the kids watch Cbeebies.
Arthur hears the dustcart go past the house and he legs it up onto our window to watch it. It’s not even bin day!
A card for Caspar. There is quite a bit of glitter and it tends to get everywhere.
Making and playing with play-dough.
We finally get out the house later on in the afternoon after we all go a bit stir crazy so I can get to my doctor’s appointment. It’s been raining all day and snails are everywhere, much to Betsy’s delight. She likes to pick them up and carry them for a bit. She also hitches a ride on the buggy by sitting on Arthur’s lap. He mostly doesn’t seem to mind and she makes him giggle loudly by kissing his neck.
This is a ramp in one of the car parks in town. Every time we pass it, Betsy pushes Art down it much to his delight.
While we wait for my appointment, we pop into a cafe for a coffee and a couple of babychinos. Whenever Art colours in a bit of his drawing, I get a proud “look, Mama!”
Once the doc was done, we walked back slowly home, going through the old graveyard, the nicest houses in town and admiring all the blossom out. Arthur walks the whole way. Actually he runs for most of it, which is slightly terrifying when we’re going along busy roads. I could swear Betsy wasn’t like this when she was this age. I find it incredibly stressful and Art is probably in the buggy more than he should be because of it. The only way he will stay next to us is if he holds Betsy’s hand. Betsy sits in the buggy as soon as it is vacated. Recently she’s been complaining a lot about how much she doesn’t like walking (even though she is usually brilliant and can walk for miles) so this is a fun break for her. I wonder how it’ll be when we stop using the buggy completely? I am not ready for that yet though, it’s too handy for hanging shopping from.
This is Arthur playing. He will hide from us (can you spot him?) and as we walk past, we wonder aloud where he is and suddenly I’ll get a tickle from behind and a “Boo!” shouted at me.
Dave happens to be arriving at the train station as we walk past so decide to meet up with him. Arthur spots him, shouts a big “Dada!”, runs up to him and as I think he’s going in for a big hug, Art runs past and into the train station. He’s not bothered by Dave, he just wants to spot some trains! Dave takes him and Betsy up onto the platform to see some. 10 minutes later they come back, Arthur in tears because he wants to stay and see some more.
Walk back home with more snails, wall climbing and an admiring look at the tree in our front garden:
“Mama, who do you like best – Woody, Buzz Lightyear or Jesse? I like Jesse”
The music I bought with my iTunes vouchers and listened to while preparing this post. Chaka Khan got first play but that Radiohead album is so, so, so good.
